Description

Havelock Island is the most visited island in the Andaman and Nicobar Island. The major attractions of this island is water sport activities like Scuba diving, Sea walk, Snorkeling, Night kayaking and many more, delightful cuisines, and many accommodation options. Havelock Island, also known as "Swaraj Dweep Island," is a verdant and picturesque island situated in the South Andaman district, located on the eastern side of Great Andaman Island. It is approximately 41 km northeast of Port Blair and covers an area of 92.2 square kilometers.

Part of the Ritchie Archipelago, Havelock Island is nestled between Peel Island and Neil Island. Its name honors British General Sir Henry Havelock, but on December 30, 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi renamed the island to Swaraj Dweep Island as a tribute to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. Havelock Island is one of the destinations where the administration has emphasized the promotion of eco-tourism. In 2021, it received the prestigious "Blue Flag" certificate from the Foundation for Environmental Education in Denmark (FEE) for its commitment to being an eco-friendly destination.

One of Asia's most captivating and renowned beaches, Radhanagar Beach, is situated on Havelock Island. It was awarded the title of "Best Beach in Asia" in 2006 and continues to be listed among the top 10 beaches to visit in Asia. To reach Havelock Island, you can travel via government-operated ferries or private cruises. Once you arrive, local cabs and buses are available at Entrance gate of harbor, which connects the jetty and the Beaches, Hotels/Resort that makes it convenient to explore the island.
